HEXBORE CUTTING SYSTEM

Hydra mining tools design, manufacture and supply the hexbore toolholder and sleeve to provide all point attack pick/bit users with a superior and unique cutting system irrespective of the application.

Traditional point attack cutting systems provide static sleeves that are very difficult if not impossible to remove or sleeves that rotate and consequently drastically reduce the life of the shearer drum by wearing out the internal bore of the toolholder/block.

The unique design of the hexagonal sleeve and toolholder/block provides a rapid change sleeve system that cannot rotate.
The hexbore cutting system has a pick back flushing (pbf) dust supression feature that includes an integral spray unit which is precisely located to provide water to the cutting zone immediately behind the pick tip. Tests have shown that this is the most effective way to capture and reduce respiratory dust levels.
The risk of ignition due to incendive sparking is dramatically reduced when the area behind and adjacent to the cutting tip is surrounded by water.
A feature unique to the hexbore cutting system is the availability of a secondary filter in the base of the toolholder/block which will enable the fitting of a blanking plug, should the toolholder/block be damaged during use.
This feature allows longwall operators to continue cutting until such time the damaged toolholder/block can be replaced.
The hexbore cutting system can be fitted to shearer drums, continuous miner drums and boom type cutting heads, with sleeves made to suit 25mm, 30mm and 35mm diameter shanked picks/bits.
